Everything You need to Feel Refreshed this Spring

Esplanade des Ouvriers-de-la-Tour-Eiffel

Why wait until we are ringing in the new year to recharge and refresh? This spring get everything you need to feel refreshed. Either mentally or emotionally or physically give yourself a fresh start to the season.

Traditionally, we often wait until the new year to make changes in our lives. But I think this is a mistake. We are not constant throughout the year.

And setting up an expectation that we need to accomplish something huge or incredibly unobtainable over the course of year is unrealistic.

I think as humans we often forget that we are a constant work in progress.

I know about this first hand.

When I was 20 years old I decided to move clear across the country to New Orleans.  For no reason other than I wanted an adventure.

I knew nothing about New Orleans other than Jackson had saved it with the help of pirates. (Of course, I would know the historical background).

One of the biggest things I took away from living in NOLA was how much I grew in the short amount of time I was there.

Which wasn’t long. Less than a year.

I realized how much I had relied on other people and I had never done anything that resembled self-reliance. Which is what I thought my entire life I had been.

But, I also learn how to refresh myself.  The best lesson, I learned how to make changes and adjust as I grow and evolve.

Spring Refresh-Rebirth

With Spring approaching in less than two weeks let’s focus on how we can refresh our mindsets and grow into the person we are becoming, and set ourselves up to refresh.

Take the time to grow, get to know yourself and be reborn.

Refresh you wellness

Personally, I had to take a good look at this because I am constantly tired and lacking energy. Despite working out and taking vitamins, and trying to eat healthy.

I just don’t have the gumption to do anything but lounge.

Spending two hours in the garden is devastating for my energy levels. There is no way I can do any garden work without scheduling a nap afterwards.

So what did I do?

I began researching my options.

Let me back up, first I consulted my doctor, and together we ruled out the common lack of energy health issues. Then I turned to supplements.

Here are the ones I decided to take:

According to Healthline.com, B12 can help turn the food you eat into energy your cells can use.

B12 is also linked to helping with anemia prevention. Something I am super prone to and have been anemic several times. So of course I sat up and took notice.

Verdict: Since taking B12 I do feel a little more alert and energetic, something I need to wrestle the never-ending growth of my garden.

I’ve also started focusing on the changes in my body.

Which is why I began taking magnesium

Magnesium helps keep blood pressure low, is good for keeping bones strong, and keeps your heart at a healthy rhythm.

Bonus: also helps with stress and fatigue. When I take this at night, it helps me to sleep deeper and much better. I never had a problem with sleep before but I was still tired in the morning.

I never felt rested. Magnesium has been the miracle I didn’t know I needed.

Refresh your fitness

I enjoy a good sweat. I know I’m in the minority here.

Which is why for years I worked out using the TA method. I loved the dancing and the strategic moves and how supportive Tracy Anderson is with her method.

She is a genius when it comes to troubleshooting, aka why am I not seeing this or that? She is also into research and listening to your body.

Which is why I had to slow down my usage of the TA method.

My body was just not able to do some of the dance moves or the strategic moves like before.

I had to be honest with myself, I was being too rough with my body.

Which lead me to Pvolve.

Ironically, Pvolve is very similar to the TA method, with the minor difference of being less impactful. I still get the type of fitness I am looking for, I’m just easier on my body.

This spring listen to your body and decide what is going to work for you in this phase of your life.

If walking after dinner is what your body needs then jump all over it. Get cut walking clothes and shoes and get walking.

Other refreshing fitness ideas: yoga, pilates, TA method, Barre, stretching there are so many options.

Refresh your mind

Journaling can be daunting. For me anyway.

I find that writing down my thoughts is stressful. Only because once my thoughts are out into the world they are no longer private and I don’t want anyone to know what was written.

If you’re like me I’ve turned to pray and meditation.

Using my conversations with the lord is how I can journal privately.

Now, I am not saying you have to talk to God to be free of your stress. Journaling and mediation are both good options.

The point is to find something that works for you. Find the outlet that you’re going to enjoy and will look forward to doing.

Remember taking care of your mental health is a part of your overall health, don’t neglect it.
